For goodness sake there is no reason to get in the water so you should just stay out! So many things out there will get you. I have read that once you are knee deep, you are considered a part of the ecosystem. That means that you become part of the food chain. Keep in mind that the beach and the ocean is home to many creatures and fish. It is not your home so keep it clean and respect it.
The coyote pic (PINS) and the hog pic (Sargent) are mine. The other pic was stolen from somewhere a long time ago
- Mountain Lions
- Bobcats
- Ghosts (PINS specifically)
- Mosquitoes
- Horse flies
- Swarming Bees
- Vibrio (flesh eating bacteria)
- Octopus
- Stingrays (they stab you with their tail spike)
- Jellyfish (so freaking painful)
- Rip tides
- Lightning
- Psycho crazy people (I've had a few run ins)
- Coyotes (there are lots of them)
- Wild hogs
- Alligators (I have seen them in the surf)
- Red tide
- Sea lice (I have witnessed a child that was attacked by these, so funny and scary at the same time)
- Flounder (if you step on them while wading, you may have a heart attack thinking it was a stingray)
- Coastal Flooding
- Kayaks
- Cows (I was approached by two of them at 3am on Sargent Beach. I am not sure of their intentions but it couldn't have been good)
- Illegal drug runners (they probably only want your vehicle)
- The two red eyes that are staring at you from the dunes (for real)
- I am sure there are more but this was just at the top of my mind
